Natural Heritage: Gardening for Butterflies at Capodistrias Museum

Natural Heritage: Gardening for Butterflies

As part of the 2026 Corfu Garden Festival, join us at the museum on Sunday, 26 April, for an enlightening event celebrating butterflies and the natural heritage of Corfu. With a talk at 12:30—this event will captivate gardening enthusiasts, butterfly lovers, and those interested in Corfu's rich flora and fauna.

The keynote speaker, Mrs Anna Sordina, Ionian Butterfly Conservation Educational Outreach Officer, working in collaboration with Capodistrias Museum and supported by IEF, will share valuable insights, while the Museum’s Director, Mrs Maya Charalampopoulou will introduce the Koukouritsa estate’s history. A guided tour will highlight the museum’s biodiversity management plan, focusing on creating a butterfly-friendly habitat.

This free of charge event is an excellent opportunity to network with fellow nature enthusiasts, learn about sustainability efforts, and explore ways to support ongoing conservation initiatives. We look forward to raising awareness of the vital role butterflies play in our environment and connecting with passionate volunteers.

Please note that both the Museum and the Garden will be open to visitors from 10:00 to 16:00 on that day. Visitors will be able to explore the garden independently through a complimentary self-guided tour, accessible via mobile phone using QR codes available on site. This provides information about the garden, its history, and its plant life.

In addition, we are pleased to inform you that entrance to the Museum’s Garden will be free on all festival days during our regular opening hours (Tuesday–Sunday, 10:00–16:00), as usual.
